The School for Psycho-social Education is closely connected with COMBER Research Focus Area under the leadership of prof Lesley Wood, focusing specifically on community-based educational research.

A further focus that is being developed currently, focus on the transition from student-teacher to in-service teacher.

A few staff members are focusing on their own specialist areas, and are not part of the mentioned two groupings.
