Introduction
Research Methodologies in a Transforming Higher Education Context is a specialised short course that offers advanced, reflexive insight into the influence of coloniality on research traditions and methodological choices. Designed for emerging researchers, postgraduate students, and academic professionals, the course foregrounds decolonial epistemologies, ontologies, and methodologies in conceptualising, conducting, and positioning research within higher education.
Participants will critically examine ethical standards in post-conflict, postcolonial contexts, developing the ability to identify unethical practices and contribute to ethical scholarship. The programme highlights the urgency of democratising knowledge production through research that is socially just, contextually grounded, and intellectually inclusive. Through theory, reflection, and case-based practice, participants will build competence in crafting research projects that respond meaningfully to institutional transformation and global academic debates. This course is essential for those committed to reshaping research paradigms in ways that reflect diverse knowledge systems and contribute to equitable scholarship in higher education.
