Introduction
Curriculum Design in a Transforming Higher Education Context is a specialised short course that equips academic staff with the knowledge and skills to critically evaluate and respond to evolving curriculum demands in South African higher education. Participants will gain insight into curriculum theory, structures, and levels, as well as the application of the Higher Education Qualifications Sub-Framework (HEQSF) in planning, developing, and quality-assuring programmes.
The course focuses on aligning graduate attributes with SAQA level descriptors to promote national and global relevance, employability, and access to further study. Participants will explore curriculum development within a transforming academic workforce and shifting student demographics, enabling ethical, evidence-based decisions around qualification purpose, design, and access.
